Are you planning a project in which CO2 is saved by, for example, generating renewable energy, using residual heat or capturing and storing CO2? It may be eligible for the SDE++ subsidy.
Until the spring of 2020, the "Sustainable Energy Production Incentive Scheme", usually abbreviated to SDE+, existed. This stimulated large-scale production of renewable energy via an operating subsidy. In the SDE++ scheme, which has existed since the fall of 2020, the abbreviation stands for "Sustainable Energy Transition Incentive Scheme. Whereas the SDE+ focused on producing renewable energy, the SDE++ focuses on reducing CO2.
This means that in addition to the production of renewable energy, the SDE++ scheme also stimulates other techniques that reduce CO2. This makes the new SDE++ scheme considerably broader than the current SDE+ scheme. This SDE scheme can thus make an important contribution to the objectives of the Climate Agreement.

The SDE++ builds on the success of the SDE+, adding a number of new elements. The main changes are:
The SDE++ subsidy has five main categories:
An application for a production facility is made specifically for one of these categories. For example, an application for SDE++ subsidy solar panels falls under electricity.
Subsequent switching, for example between cogeneration and green gas production, is therefore not possible without a new application. The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL), commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, calculates the cost price per technique. The calculation is based on a reference plant where most of the projects are profitable. This cost price largely determines how much subsidy you will receive and is called the basic amount. The base amount is the subsidy amount for which you apply.
In addition, there are some terms you need to know to fully understand how the subsidy works:
The correction amount is the price you are expected to receive from the market. This amount is deducted from your base amount. The correction amount is set annually and is the same for everyone.
A full-load hour is described as the length of time during which the energy source effectively produces energy at full power. A maximum number of full-load hours is determined per technique. For some techniques, at 4,000 full-load hours per year, the maximum subsidy is already reached. This saves you from having to produce year-round if you don't need to and allows you to bridge maintenance periods, for example.
The duration of the subsidy is defined per category. It is often 12 to 15 years, depending on the installation's life expectancy. In some cases, the duration of the subsidy is shorter. For instance, electricity production using industrial pallet stoves has a max duration of 8 years.
Basic energy price
The basic energy price is a bottom line price established by the RVO (Government service for Dutch entrepreneurs). If the correction amount falls below the bottom line price, this bottom line price is redacted from your subsidy. This way, the RVO prevents unnecessary budgeting.
